Jew of the Week: Google

28 Apr

Jews of the Week 4.0

Andy Rubin is the founder and lead programmer behind the Android mobile operating system (which is now the largest mobile OS in the world) . He has been hailed as the modern Bill Gates and holds at least 7 patents for mobile technologies. He is currently Senior Vice President of Google, Inc. Which leads us to Russian-Jewish immigrant Sergei Mikhayilovich Brin. As a computer science Ph.D at Stanford, he wrote a data-mining program, then teamed up with fellow (American) Jew Larry Page to create the Google search engine, launched in 1998. The rest is history. Might as well add Bram Cohen to this list. He invented P2P and BitTorrent, which I’m sure none of you use anyway…

Words of the Week

I will insist that the Hebrews have done more to civilize men than any other nation… They have given religion to three quarters of the globe and have influenced the affairs of mankind, more and more happily than any other nation, ancient or modern.
– John Adams (2nd President of the U.S), in a letter to F.A Van der Kemp, 1809
